Back In Training From Bangkok

The training session at the Red Giants camp resumed following the 'team building' programme and the pre-season in Bangkok, Thailand, which finished on March 7.

Selangor FC had a training session with a complete number of players during the pre-season in Bangkok, Thailand. According to Samuel Somerville, goalkeeper of the Red Giants, the programme made the squad more united.

"For me, we had a very good preseason session in Thailand. The main focus of this pre-season is to build good relationships between the players, especially with the new players. This session should be good for the team because we can spend time together with the activities that the coaches and officials have planned. Even if it's only for a moment, I hope that this kind of program helps the team to prepare for the 2024/2025 season," said Samuel regarding the pre-season.

Starting this week, eight local players, Faisal Halim, Sharul Nazeem, Mukhairi Ajmal, Ruventhiran, Harith Haiqal, Zikri Khalili, Nooa Laine and Izwan Yuslan have been called up by Harimau Malaya to the training camp to face the third and fourth matches of Group D, Round 2 Qualifiers 2026 World Cup/2027 Asian Cup against Oman in Muscat on 21 March 2024 and in Bukit Jalil on 26 March 2024.

In addition, three Red Giants import players have also been called up by their respective countries, Safuwan Baharudin (Group C: Singapore vs. China), Noor Al-Rawabdeh (Group G: Jordan vs. Pakistan) and Umarbek Eshmurodov (Group E: Uzbekistan vs. Hong Kong) for Round 2 of the 2026 World Cup/2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers.

Meanwhile, three more Selangor FC players have been called up to the under-23 national team namely Syahir Bashah, Azim Al-Amin and Muhammad to prepare before flying to Qatar for the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup on April 15 to May 3 this year.

The management is confident that the coaching staff will use the time as best as possible with the number of players available to continue preparing for the opening match in May. We also wish the national team success in Round 2 of the 2026 World Cup/2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers. Good luck!
